British Origins
Finisterre was founded in a Cornwall cliff top workshop by Tom Kay in 2003. A local of St. Agnes, the outdoors enthusiast was inspired by the rugged beauty of the British coastline. Or rather, the needs that it created for those that dared to surf in its waters.
The brand began with a fleece that would instantly warm up surfers combatting the cold winds of the Atlantic. It gradually expanded to more gear that adventurers needed to brace the chilly climate of Britain's great outdoors.
Finisterre's designs have always reflected the dynamic nature of the coast, with each piece embodying the spirit of exploration and a deep respect for the environment. Kay knew from the start that he wanted to create products that made a positive difference within the industry, especially when so many other outdoor apparel brands were using harmful synthetics in their products.
Still based in the same Cornish cliff top workshop, Finisterre’s commitment to preserving the English coast is an integral part of the brand’s identity.
